NOTICE OF STAFF-RECOMMENDED RATES
On July 8, 2025, Big Bend Public Service District of Talcott, Summers County, West Virginia filed with the Public Service Commission an Application requesting increased rates and charges for furnishing public water service to approximately 579 customers in Summers County, West Virginia.
The Staff of the Public Service Commission has reviewed the District's rate increase application and recommended a rate increase that will become effective for water service rendered on and after the date of the Public Service Commissioon's final order in this case. The Staff Recommended Rates are designed to produce approximately $18,182 in additional revenue annually for the District, an overall increase of 4.43% over revenue and Cash Working Capital Reserve under the District's current rates. Under the Staff-Recommended Rates the monthly bill for the District's residential customer with an average monthly usage of 2,500 will experience an increase of $1.93 per month or 4.50% over current rates. The District's commercial customers at the average monthly usage of 11,000 gallons will experience an increase of $7.47 per month, or 4.52% over current rates. The monthly bill for public authority customers, at the average usage of 16,000 gallons, will increase $10.44 or 4.51% over current rates.

Anyone desiring to review the Staff recommendation report may do so on the Commission website (www.psc.state.wv.us). Anyone desiring to protest the changed rates and charges must do so, in writing, within ten (10) days of the date of publication of this notice. All protests may be filed on line through the Commission website using the "Submit a Comment" link or may be mailed to the Executive Secretary, Public Service Commission of West Virginia, P.O. Box 812, 201 Brooks Street, Charleston, West Virginia 25323, or hand-delivered to the Public Service Commission. To help the Commission determine the justification for additional review and investigation, protests must be specific as to reasons that the changed rates and charges should be modified.
The Commission may adopt rates and charges which are the same as, greater than or less than the Staff-recommended rates and charges.
