Notice is hereby given that GREENBRIER SMOKELESS COAL MINING, LLC 4547 Anjean Road, Rupert, WV 25984 has submitted an application with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), 1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV 25840 for a Phase 1 release on Permit Number S300514 Increment Number 3 issued for 31.92 acres.
The permit is located in Meadow Bluff District of Greenbrier County, 5.7 miles Northeast of Rupert on Brier Creek and an unnamed tributary of South Fork of Big Clear Creek and unnamed tributary of Little Clear Creek – all of Meadow River of Gauley River of Upper Kanawha River.
GREENBRIER SMOKELESS COAL MINING, LLC completed backfilling and regrading on 4/22/2023 and is requesting release of 60 percent of the reclamation performance bond currently in the amount of $76,800.00.
