Learn about a proposed underground coal mining project beneath the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer's (USACE) R.D. Bailey Lake Project area.
On March 20, 2025, President Trump issued Executive Order (EO) 14241, Immediate Measures to Increase American Mineral Production. Ramaco Resources (LLC) applied for a lease for subsurface mining in Mingo and Wyoming Counties, WV. Topics at the hearing include:
â¢Competitive Lease Sale to be Held
â¢Fair Market Value-system used determine the minimum fees paid to the government
â¢Maximum Economic Recovery -requires coal reserves to be mined
â¢Environmental Analysis completed and posted on ePlanning – the BLM, in cooperation with the USACE and coordination with the Office of Surface Mining and WV Department of Environmental Protection
