FIREFIGHTER TEST

The Firemen's Civil Service Commission of the City of Beckley will administer an Entry-Level Firefighter Examination on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. The location of the examination will be announced to eligible applicants prior to the test date.

Interested individuals may obtain an application from the Office of the Recorder-Treasurer located in the City Hall Municipal Building, 409 South Kanawha Street, Beckley, West Virginia, Beckley Fire Department Station 1 located at 310 Third Avenue, Beckley, West Virginia, or Beckley Fire Department Station 3 located at 232 Industrial Drive, Beckley, West Virginia, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

In accordance with the State Code of West Virginia, applicants must be between eighteen (18) and thirty-five (35) years of age at the time of application. Honorably discharged veterans of the United States Armed Forces, Armed Services Reserve, or National Guard may apply if they are forty (40) years of age or younger at the time of application.

Veterans should present a copy of their DD-214 upon application to be considered for veteran's preference points.

Applications will be accepted until Friday, July 10, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.

NO APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THAT DATE AND TIME.
