There will be a Public Hearing on the following ordinance on May 24, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. in the Common Council Chambers at Beckley City Hall. This Ordinance will be available for review at Beckley City Hall, 409 South Kanawha Street between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday. AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR THE AMENDMENT TO THE TRAFFIC CONTROL MAP – PARKING AREAS AND TRAFFIC CONTROL FILE OF THE CITY OF BECKLEY TO PROHIBIT PARKING ON BOTH SIDES OF THE 400 BLOCK OF GREGORY STREET FROM THE CORNER OF GREGORY STREET AND HARTLEY AVENUE TO THE CORNER OF GREGORY STREET AND GRAFTON STREET, BECKLEY, RALEIGH COUNTY, WEST VIRGINIA WHEREAS, Chapter 14, Article III, of the Code of the City of Beckley, West Virginia, provides for the establishment of a Traffic Control Map and Traffic Control File; and WHEREAS, the majority of the residents and property owners on the 400 Block of Gregory Street have petitioned the Common Council of the City of Beckley to prohibit parking on the right-of-way of both sides of Gregory Street between Hartley Avenue and Grafton Street because of the narrow width of the street and safety concerns; and WHEREAS, it is now deemed necessary by the Common Council of the City of Beckley to amend the Traffic Control Map and the Traffic Control File in the manner provided for in Section 14-302 of the Code of the City of Beckley. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BECKLEY, WEST VIRGINIA: That the Traffic Control Map – Parking Areas and Traffic Control File of the City of Beckley be, and the same are hereby amended to provide for the establishment of a “No Parking Zone” on the right of way on both sides of the 400 Block of Gregory Street form the corner of Hartley Avenue to the corner of Grafton Street. The area subject to no parking is described in Exhibit “A” attached hereto and is shown on the attached map.
