PUBLIC NOTICE OF
CHANGE IN RATES
NOTICE is hereby given that the City of Weirton has adopted by ordinance on August 10, 2020, an increase in rates, tolls and charges for furnishing water service to 9,296 customers at Weirton, Hancock County.
The increased rates will become effective forty-five (45) days from passage of the Ordinance and will produce approximately $1,020,964.00 annually in additional revenue, an increase of 27.64%. The average monthly bill for the various classes of customers will be changed as follows: $ %

Resale customers of the City are Brooke County Public Service District and Oakland Public Service District. There is no increase in the resale rates to the districts.

The increases shown are based on averages of all customers in the indicated class. Individual customers may receive increases that are greater or less than average. Pursuant to WV Code Section 24-2-1(b)(6), water resale customers may file any dispute with said rates within thirty (30) days of the Ordinance adoption date. Non-resale water customers may file a complaint with the Commission pursuant to WV Code Section 24-2-1(b)(7).

Such disputes and/or complaints should be addressed to the Executive Secretary, Public Service Commission of West Virginia, 201 Brooks Street, P.O. Box 812, Charleston, West Virginia 25323.

A complete copy of the proposed rates, as well as a representative of the utility to provide any information requested concerning the rates, is available to all customers, prospective customers, or their agents at the City Clerk’s Office, 200 Municipal Plaza, Weirton, West Virginia, which is opened to the public Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. However, due to limited access to the City Building during the Covid-19 crisis, please contact the Clerk’s Office at 304-797-8500, Extension 1045, to schedule a time during business hours to review the document.

A complete copy of the proposed rates is available for public inspection at the office of the Executive Secretary of the Public Service Commission, 201 Brooks Street, Charleston, West Virginia 25301.
