ADVERTISEMENT Notice is hereby given that Pocahontas Coal Company LLC, 109 Appalachian Drive, Beckley, WV 25801 has submitted an application to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Division of Mining and Reclamation (DMR), located at 254 Industrial Drive, Oak Hill, WV 25901 for an Article 3 permit for the surface disturbance of approximately 202.58 acres in order to add 94.58 acres by means of a permit amendment to the currently approved 108.0 acres resulting in a total of 202.58 acres. A variance/waiver request has been included since the added acreage exceeds the acreage limitation for an amendment. This amendment is being submitted in order to contour, surface, highwall, and auger mine in the Pocahontas No. 6 seam of coal. The proposed operation is discharging into Unnamed Tributaries of/and Turkey Branch of Tommy Creek and Unnamed Tributaries of/and Tommy Creek of Stone Coal Creek of Winding Gulf all of Guyandotte River of Ohio River and is located 2.0 miles southeast of Odd in Slab Fork District of Raleigh County, Longitude 81 f 16′ 32″ and Latitude 37 f 35′ 26″ (Coordinates from USGS Topographic Map).
