Notice is hereby given that REPUBLIC ENERGY, LLC, 4101 SLATE DRIVE, SCARBRO, WV 25917 has a permit on file with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for the surface mining of approximately 495.13 acres and has submitted an application to the DEP, 1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV 25840, for renewal of Article 3 Permit Number S301003 to coal surface mine in the Chilton, Lower Cedar Grove, Alma, Peerless, No. 2 Gas, Lower Campbells Creek, and Powellton and all splits thereof seams of coal.

The operation is discharging into Toney Fork of Buffalo Fork of/and Toney Fork/unnamed tributaries of/and Lick Run all of Clear Fork of Coal River and Right Fork and Maynor Branch of Dixons Branch and Willis Branch all of Paint Creek of Kanawha River and is located 1.8 miles southwest of Pax in Plateau and Clear Fork Districts of Fayette and Raleigh Counties, Longitude 81deg. 17′ 44″ and Latitude 37deg. 53′ 21″ (Coordinates from USGS Topographic Map).

Written comments and/or requests for an informal conference of the permit renewal application shall identify the applicant and application number and will be received by the Permit Supervisor at the DEP address above until May 23, 2020, or thirty (30) days from the date of final publication. A copy of the application will be available for review until May 23, 2020, or thirty (30) days from the date of final publication in the DEP Regional Office located at the address above AND in the Fayette and Raleigh County Clerks’ Office(s) during normal business hours.
