At a regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, April 1, 2015, the Randolph County Board of Health approved changes to the Randolph County Clean Indoor Air Regulation.

Under “Regulation of Smoking in Enclosed Public Places” A – 5, Retail stores; smoking will no longer be allowed in retail tobacco stores. In A – 11 “Motel/Hotel/Bed & Breakfast;” all establishments must now be smoke free and cannot designate 25{4ceb532c6f579389df471c6c1e832caf2346b74dc60fcbf6aabd4d29df3baf9c} of the rooms to smoking guests. Inns and rental cabins will be included as non-smoking areas. A – 12 “Establishments where Bingo is played” there will be no exceptions and all establishments where bingo is played must be entirely smoke free. A – 16 “fire halls” private parties must also be smoke free.

Where Smoking is Not Regulated: Numbers 2, 3, 4, and 5 will be eliminated to comply with the changes above under “Regulation of Smoking in Enclosed Public Places;” This will include fraternal organizations when used for private functions.

Copies of the proposed changes may be obtained by written request to the Randolph County Health Department, 32 Randolph Ave., Suite 101, Elkins, WV 26241. A thirty day comment period is being provided and all comments must be post marked by July 22, 2015 in order to be considered by the board. Oral comments will be accepted at the next regularly scheduled board meeting on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at 12:00. Each speaker must pre-register with the administrator by calling 304-636-0396 no later than 4:30 on Tuesday, July 28, 2015. Comments are limited to two minutes each.
