ASSESSOR’S STAFF TO BEGIN FIELD REVIEW
The Clay County Assessor’s staff is mandated by the WV State Tax Department to make door to door visitation in a three-year cycle. This year, 2020 properties include Pleasant, and Union Districts.
Visitation to these areas will start the end of April and will continue through summer. With the scare of the Corona virus, it will be necessary for the office to make adjustments in the way we go about collecting the necessary data.
We will be driving by and taking pictures from the county vehicle. Our vehicle is a white Jeep, clearly marked on both side doors and with county plates. Property will be reviewed by the Assessor, and/or a Deputy Assessor.
This will limit the need to be in close contact and make it safer for the property owners and the county employees. Should the virus scare be lifted and everything becomes back to normal, then we will again start knocking on doors and leaving door hangers. Owners with new construction permits will be checked later in the fall. Contact our office if you have had any changes or improvements to your property, such as anything new built or any removal of buildings.
