PUBLIC NOTICE
In accordance with the Surface Mining and Reclamation Act, West Virginia Code Chapter 22, Article 3, the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection, Office of Special Reclamation, shall facilitate and engage in an acid mine water treatment project known as the Buffalo Coal Permits. Permit Numbers S-2001-86, S-5280, S-2003-03, S-5380, and S-2011-87. Project will occupy and/or utilize properties owned by Western Pocahontas Properties, Limited Partnership and Virginia Electric and Power Company. Lands located in Union District, Grant County, West Virginia, and situate on a tributary of the Stoney River Watershed. Said project shall include the construction of a pipeline system and necessary utilities for transporting acid mine drainage to a newly proposed acid mine drainage treatment facility.
In accordance with West Virginia Code Chapter 22, Article 27, notice is hereby provided of this project and that it shall employ the West Virginia Environmental Good Samaritan Act. Project plans and specifications are on file with the Department. Written objections may be filed with the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection, Office of Special Reclamation, 601 57th Street S.E., Charleston, WV 25304-2345.
