A PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS, the retirement of the Honorable Carole Jones on the 17th day of January, 2020, has caused a vacancy in the office of Circuit Court Clerk of Wood County, West Virginia; and
WHEREAS, Section six, Article ten, Chapter three of the Code of West Virginia 1931, as amended, provides that if from any cause a vacancy shall occur in the office of the Circuit Court clerk, the Chief Judge may appoint a temporary successor to the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court until the requirements of this Section have been met; and
WHEREAS, Section six, Article ten, Chapter three of the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, provides that where an unexpired term of office for a Circuit Court Clerk is for a period of more than two years, the vacancy shall be filled by a successor who has timely filed a certificate of candidacy and has been duly electyed and qualified to fill the unexpired term; and
WHEREAS, at the time of Carole Jones’ retirement, more than two years remained unexpired in the term of office of Circuit Court Clerk of Wood County, West Virginia;
NOW, THEREFORE, I,
J.D. BEANE, Chief Judge of the Fourth Judicial Circuit of the State of West Virginia, under the authority vested in me by the Constitution of West Virginia and the laws of this State, do hereby proclaim, declare and order that the unexpired term of office for Circuit Court Clerk of Wood County, West Virginia, will appear on the next regular primary election held on the twelfth day of May, Two Thousand Twenty, and the subsequent general election held on the third day of November, Two Thousand Twenty, in order to fill the vacancy.
