Notice is hereby given that KENTUCKY FUEL CORPORATION, 302 SOUTH JEFFERESON STREET, ROANOKA, VA 24011 has a permit on file with the Department of Envronmental Protection (DEP) for the surface mining of approximately 647.27 acres and has submitted an application to the DEP, 1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV 25840, for renewal of Article 3 Permit Number S300998 to Coal Surface Mine in the Sewell seam of coal.
The opeation is discharging into Unnamed Tributary of Winding Gulf, Unnamed Tributary of/and Mullens Branch, Unnamed Tricutary of/and Berry Branch, Unnamed Tributary of/and Riffle Branch of Stonecoal Creek of Winding Gulf of the Guyandotte River and is located 2.4 miles, Northeast of HELEN in SLAB FORK District of Raleigh County, Longitude 81o 17’ 30” and Latitude 37o 40’ 0” (Coordinates from USGS Topographic Map).

Written comments and/or requests for an informal conference of the permit renewal application shall identify the applicant and application number and will be received by the Permit Supervisor at the DEP address above until November 1, 2024, or thirty (30) days from the date of final publication. A copy of the application will be availalbe for review until November 1, 2024, or thirty (30) days from the date of final publication in the DEP Regional Office located at the address above and is available at:
