Request for Proposals (RFP) for Contracted Grant Writer

Introduction

The Fayette County Commission is seeking proposals from qualified individuals or firms to provide grant writing services on a contractual basis. The selected contractor will be responsible for identifying grant opportunities and assisting in the preparation and submission of grant applications for several specific large-scale projects within Fayette County.

Scope of Work

The contracted grant writer will be expected to:

1. Identify federal, state, and private grant opportunities that align with the County’s priorities.
2. Research, develop, and write competitive grant proposals for specific large-scale projects.
3. Collaborate with County officials, departments and stakeholders to gather necessary information for grant applications.
4. Ensure grant applications comply with all guidelines and deadlines.
5. Provide reporting and tracking on outstanding applications, funding awards, and funding opportunities.
6. Assist in grant management and compliance as needed.

Qualifications

The successful applicant should have:

• Proven experience in successful grant writing, preferably for government entities
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and private funding sources
• Excellent research, writing, and organizational skills
• The ability to work independently while maintaining communication with County officials
• Knowledge of compliance and reporting requirements for grant-funded projects

Proposal Requirements

Interested individuals or firms must submit a proposal including the following:
1. Cover Letter – Introduce the applicant and summarize relevant experience.
2. Experience and Qualifications – Provide detailed information on past grant writing success, particularly for local government projects.
3. Approach and Methodology – Describe the approach to identifying, preparing, and managing grant applications.
4. Fee Structure – Outline proposed fees, including hourly rates, retainer fees, or commission structures.
5. References – Provide contact information for at least three professional references.

Contract Terms

The selected contractor will enter into a professional services agreement with the Fayette County Commission for a term to be determined. The contract may be renewed upon mutual agreement.

The Fayette County Commission reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to negotiate terms with the selected contractor.
