BOX 69, 622 PACKS BRANCH ROAD, PAX, WV 25904 has a permit on file with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for the surface mining of approximately 453.56 acres and has submitted an application to the DEP, 1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV, 25840, for renewal of Article 3 Permit Number S301003 to Coal Surface Mine in the Chilton, Lower Cedar Grove, Alma, Peerless, No. 2 Gas, Lower Campbells Creek, Powellton, Eagle “A”, Eagle, Little Eagle and all splits thereof seam of coal.
The operation is discharging into unnamed tributaries of/and Lick Run, unnamed tributaries of/and Buffalo Fork of/and Toney Fork of Clear Fork of Big Coal River of Coal River and Willis Branch of Paint Creek of Kanawha River and is located 1.8 miles, southwest of Pax in Plateau & Clear Fork District of Fayette & Raleigh Counties, Longitude 81°17’44 “ and Latitude 37°53 ‘21” (Coordinates from USGS Topographic Map).

Written comments and/or requests for an informal conference of the permit renewal application shall identify the applicant and application number and will be received by the Permit Supervisor at the DEP address above until 5/24/2025 or thirty (30) days from the date of final publication.
A copy of the application will be available for review until 5/24/2025 , or thirty (30) days from the date of final publication in the DEP Regional Office located at the address above and is available at:
