Notice is hereby given that REPUBLIC ENERGY, LLC, P. O. BOX 69, 622 PACKS BRANCH ROAD, PAX, WV 25904 has submitted an application to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Division Of Mining And Reclamation (DMR) located at 1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV 25840 for an Article 3 permit for the surface disturbance of approximately 670.48 acres in order to surface mine, including highwall mining and augering, in the 2 Gas—Kanawha; Cedar Grove—Kanawha; Eagle—Kanawha; Eagle – Ltl—Kanawha; Eagle A—Kanawha; Hernshaw—Kanawha; Peerless—Kanawha; Powellton—Kanawha seam of coal. The proposed operation is discharging into ROCK CREEK, UNNAMED TRIBUTARIES OF ROCK CREEK, UNNAMED TRIBUTARIES OF RIGHTHAND FORK, RIGHTHAND FORK, UNNAMED TRIBUTARIES OF BEE BRANCH, BEE BRANCH, UNNAMED TRIBUTARIES OF WINGROVE BRANCH, AND UNNAMED TRIBUTARIES OF SANDLICK CREEK, OF SANDLICK CREEK, OF MARSH FORK; ALL OF BIG COAL RIVER OF COAL RIVER OF KANAWHA RIVER OF KANAWHA RV and is located 2.7 Miles, southwest of Clear Creek In Clear Fork And Marsh Fork Disrict of Raleigh County, Longitude 81o 22’ 25” Latitude 37o 51’ 40”.

Written comments and/or requests for an informal conference of the surface mining application shall identify the applicant and application number and will be received by the Permit Supervisor at the DEP address above until May 23, 2025 or thirty (30) days from date of final publication. A copy of the application will be available for review until May 23, 2025, or thirty (30) day from date if final publication in the DEP Regional Office located at the above address and is available at:
