NOTICE OF REQUEST
FOR CONSTRUCTION BIDS

The Beaver Volunteer Fire Department, (hereinafter called “OWNER”) invites qualified contractors to submit sealed bids for A New Fire Station to be located in Bragg, West Virginia. Sealed bids will be received at the office of the Owner, Beaver Volunteer Fire Department, 147 3rd Street, Beaver, West Virginia 25813, until 2:00 p.m. local prevailing time, on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 and then and there the bids will be publicly opened and read.

The work of this project consists of the following Lump Sum contract:

Provide all work, including, but not limited to labor, materials, equipment, supplies and transportation for construction of a New Fire Station to be located at Bragg, West Virginia.

Contract Documents are available for inspection during regular working hours at the office of the OWNER (telephone: 304/256-4660); office of the Architect – J. Dan Snead & Associates, Inc., 101 North Kanawha Street, Suite 203, Beckley, West Virginia, 25801 (telephone: 304/252-6630); and the Contractors’ Association of WV, 2114 Kanawha Blvd., East, Charleston, West Virginia 25311 (telephone: 304/342-1166).

Contract Documents may be obtained at the office of the Architect upon written request and non-refundable payment of Fifty Dollars ($50.00) for each set. Payment shall be in the form of certified check, cashier’s check or money order made payable to the Architect.

A pre-bid meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at the site, 235 Community Road, Shady Spring (Bragg), WV. This meeting is mandatory and is a precondition to bidding.

Bids shall be submitted on the required Bid Form. All blank spaces on the bid forms must be filled in, in typewritten form, and the Bid Form must be fully completed and executed when submitted. An acceptable Bid Bond, made payable to the OWNER, in the amount of five percent (5%) of the total bid, must accompany each Bid. West Virginia State Contractor’s License will be required of all bidders.

The parties to whom Contracts are awarded will be required to execute the Agreement and obtain the required Performance Bonds and Labor and Materials Payment Bonds within ten (10) calendar days from the date of Notice of Award.

The OWNER reserves the right to reject any and all Bids. Any Bid may be withdrawn prior to the above scheduled time for the opening of Bids or authorized postponement thereof. Any Bid received after the time and date specified will not be considered. No bidder may withdraw a Bid within sixty (60) days after the actual date of the opening thereof. Should there be reasons why the Contract cannot be awarded within the specified period, the time may be extended by mutual agreement between the OWNER and the Bidder. The contractor will be required to submit an affidavit with bid, certifying that no debt is owed the State of West Virginia or any of its Political Subdivisions.
