Notice is hereby given that Pocahontas Coal Company, LLC, 109 Appalachian Drive, Beckley, WV 25801 has submitted an application to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), 1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV 25840 for a significant permit revision to Article 3 permit number S300723 in order to add approximately 63.58 acres of pre-law Pocahontas No. 4 seam mine bench and add auger/highwall mining in the Pocahontas No. 4 seam. The revised permit will discharge into Unnamed Tributaries of/and Keaton Branch and Unnamed Tributaries of/and Piney Creek of New River of Kanawha River and is located 1.4 miles, northeast of Odd in the Shady Spring District of Raleigh County, Longitude 81° 10’ 55” and Latitude 37° 37’ 28”.

Written comments and/or requests for an informal conference of the surface mining application shall identify the applicant and application number and will be received by the Permit Supervisor at the DEP address above until June 22, 2025, or thirty (30) days from the date of final publication.
