NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
CITY OF WELCH,
WEST VIRGINIA
ADOPTION OF ORDINANCES

Notice is hereby given by the City of Welch that it will hold a public hearing on Monday, August 4, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. at the City Hall, 88 Howard Street, Welch, West Virginia 24801.

The purpose of this public hearing is for proposed adoption of proposed ordinances pursuant to the provisions of West Virginia Code §8-1-5a, and the City of Welch’s Home Rule Plan approved April 22, 2025. The following proposed ordinances will be considered for adoption:

1. Municipal Sales and Use Taxes (imposition of municipal sales and service tax, and municipal use tax)

2. Ordinance Amending Chapter 10, Article IV, Section 10-70 of The Code of the City of Welch West Virginia (reduction of business and occupation tax upon selling tangible property at retail)

3. Ordinance Amending Chapter 2, Article III, Section 2-58(b) of The Code of the City of Welch West Virginia (relief from the notice of public auction requirements relative to the sale of City property with a value of less than $20,000.00)

4. Ordinance Authorizing Citations to Abate Public Nuisances (allowing on-the-spot citations in order to eliminate hazards to public health and safety, and abate or cause to be abated public nuisances)

Copies of the proposed ordinances will be available for public inspection in the Office of the City Clerk at Welch City Hall, 88 Howard Street, Welch, West Virginia 24801, beginning on July 29, 2025, during normal business hours, Monday through Friday (excluding holidays), between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

All interested citizens are invited to attend the public hearing on August 4, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. to present oral or written comments concerning the proposed ordinances. Written comments may also be addressed to Robin Lee, City Clerk, City of Welch, 88 Howard Street, Welch, West Virginia 24801.
