Notice of Community Development Block Grant Mitigation Application
The Town of Union is obtaining citizen input, public comments, and opinions on the proposed Town of Union Water Treatment Plant Flood Mitigation Project. The Town of Union has encountered recent flooding issues at the Water Treatment Plant located on 10 Pump Street. The proposed project would pursue grant funding to relocate the existing plant out of the flood area and develop back-up supply sources in case of shortages. The proposed project costs are estimated at $6,500,000. In total the project will benefit approximately 390 residential and business customers, including Collins Aerospace, and multiple businesses along main street and surrounding areas.
The Town of Union intends to apply for funding from the HUD Community Development Block Grant Mitigation Program which has $26,000,000 available for selected eligible applicants in eight distressed and impacted West Virginia counties. Interested citizens are urged to comment.
