At REGULAR SESSION MEETINGS of the MCDOWELL COUNTY COMMISSION of MCDOWELL COUNTY, West Virginia, held at the OLD NATIONAL GUARD ARMORY – COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING ROOM located at 600 Stewart St Welch, West Virginia 24801 on the 12th day of July, 2023 and the 26th day of July, 2023 the following ORDERS was made entered:
IN THE MATTER OF THE ADOPTION OF THE PROPOSED
COMBINED PRECINCT CHANGES WITHIN MCDOWELL COUNTY
RESOLVED: The MCDOWELL COUNTY COMMISSION by its President, Cecil D. Patterson, does hereby direct the Clerk of the Commission to Publish the following “PUBLIC NOTICE” as a Class II-O Legal Advertisement.
“PUBLIC NOTICE”
The County Commission of MCDOWELL COUNTY, WEST VIRGINIA, having previously declard its intention to make the following changes:
— Combine (6) Precincts that are either already in the same building or on the same property to make (3) Precincts.
— Combine (3) Precincts that are within a quarter of a mile from one another to make into (1) Precinct.
— Move (1) Precinct to another Location with a larger building with better parking.
McDowell County Precincts to be Combined
(Approved at County Commission Meeting held on 07.12.2023)
Precinct #102 – has 291 Voters Note: After combining the (2) It will be known as #102
Precinct #103 – has 233 Voters (This Precinct will be located at
River View High School)
Note: After combined we can make this one Precinct that will have a total of 524 Voters. As of now both Precincts are located on the Same Property, the only thing that seperates them is a breezeway between the schools.
Precinct #107 – has 166 Voters Note: After Combining the (2) It will be known as #107
Precinct #109 – has 154 Voters (This Precinct will be located at the
Iaeger Elem School)
Note: After combined we can make this one Precinct that will have a total of 320 Voters. As of now both Precincts 107 & 109 are located in the Same Building, located at two different ends of the school. We recommend putting these two together and leave at the Iaeger Elem School.
Precinct #20 – has 269 Voters Note: After combining the (2) It will be known as #20
Precinct #21 – has 195 Voters (This Precinct will be located at the Fall River Elem)
Note: After combined we can make this one Precinct that will have a total of 464 Voters. As of now both Precincts 20 & 21 are located in the Same Building, located in the gym area. We recommend putting these two together at the Fall River Elem School.
Precinct #84 – has 524 Voters Note: After Combining the (3) It will be known as #84
Precinct #85 – has 91 Voters (This Precinct will be located at the Southside School)
Precinct #86 – has 144 Voters
Note: After combined we can make this one Precinct that will have a total of 759 Voters. As of now both Precincts 84 & 85 are located in the Same Building. Precinct 86 is at the school. We would recommend putting all three together at the South Side Elem School.
Precinct #106 – has 236 Voters Note: This Precinct is Located at the Iaeger City Hall. (This Precinct will now be located at the Iaeger Elem School)
The changes are made public as well and are located in the Office of Donald L. Hilcks, McDowell County Clerk, McDowell County Courthouse.
