Notice is hereby given that SOUTHERN MINERALS, INC., PO BOX 770, 356 S COLLEGE AVE, BLUEFIELD, VA 24701 has a permit on file with the the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for the surface mining of approximately 9.49 acres and has submitted an application to the DEP, 1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV 25840 for renewal of Article 3 Permit Number U401007 to operate an underground coal mine in the Little Firecreek seam of coal.
The operation is discharging into unnamed tributary of Elkhorn Creek of Tug Fork River and is located 2.5 miles, West of Kimball in Browns Creed District of McDowell County, Longitude 81o 32’ 29” and Latitude 37o 25’ 21”.
