CASE NO. 24-0056-PSD-19A

COLFAX PUBLIC SERVICE DISTRICT
Rule 19A application to increase sewer rates and charges.

NOTICE OF INTERIM RATE INCREASE

On February 1, 2024, the Colfax Public Service District (the “District”) filed a Rule 19A application to increase its sewer rates and charges and for emergency interim rates.

The Staff of the Public Service Commission have performed a preliminary review and recommended an immediate interim increase in rates and charges of 25.38% that will produce approximately $24,329 annually in additional revenue in order for the District to avoid financial distress. The Commission has approved the Staff-recommended emergency interim rate increase. The interim rates are subject to refund if determined not to be justified in a final decision in this matter.

This immediate interim rate increase is applicable to all customers of the Utility. The immediate interim rates are subject to refund if not justified by an ongoing Staff audit and final decision in this matter. Customers may review the specific immediate interim rate changes at the Utility’s office. Customers may protest the interim rates by mailing that protest to the Executive Secretary at P.O. Box 812, Charleston, WV 25323. Please refer to the Case Number 23-0645-PSD-19A. Protests may also be filed by visiting the Commission’s website at http://www.psc.state.wv.us and selecting “Submit a Comment” then selecting “Formal Case” and following the instructions.

The rates are interim rates only and may be increased, decreased, or left unchanged at the conclusion of this rate case. During the course of this proceeding, the Staff of the Commission will recommend final rates for use by the Utility. Those rates will be published at a later date and may be protested at that time.
