NOTICE OF PROPOSED
CONVEYANCE
OF UNITED METHODIST CHURCH PROPERTY
(Carr Memorial
United Methodist Church)

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Trustees of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church will, on or after March 6, 2024 QUITCLAIM, GRANT AND CONVEY to Trustees of Carr Memorial Methodist Church those certain lots or parcels of land, situate in Beaver Pond District, Mercer County, West Virginia, and bounded and described as follows, to-wit:

PARCEL ONE

ALL that certain tract or parcel of land lying in Beaver Pond District, Mercer County, West Virginia, known as Lot No. 5 of the Mercer Home Building Company’s Sub-Division of Lot No. 1, Block “B”, of the Carlend Development Company as shown by a map thereof, attached to and made a part of a certain deed dated December 7th, 1922, executed by the said Mercer Home Building Company to Carrie Dell White, and recorded in the Office of the Clerk of the County Court of Mercer County, West Virginia, in Deed Book No. 149, at page 32, to which deed and map reference is here made for a further description of said lot hereby conveyed. The said lot hereby conveyed, being further described as follows, to-wit:

BEGINNING at a point in the north line of the Bluefield Princeton Highway at the southwest corner of Lot No. 4. of said Mercer Home Building Company subdivision of said Lot 1, Block “B”; thence N. 25° 40’ W. 507.6 feet to an alley; thence with the south line of said alley 66° 17’ W. 97.6 feet to the point of intersection of said alley with a thirty foot Street or road; thence along said street or road S. 11° 57’ W. 4.1 feet to stake; thence leaving said street or road S. 25° 40’ E. 507.2 feet to a stake in the north line of said Bluefield-Princeton Highway; thence with the north line of said Highway in an eastwardly direction 100 feet to the point of beginning, said lot hereby conveyed fronting l00 feet on the said Bluefield-Princeton Highway and running back therefrom to said alley.

And being the same property conveyed from Mary Green Bowling to Trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, by Deed dated May 25, 1938 and recorded in the Office of the Clerk of the County Commission of Mercer County, West Virginia in Deed Book 238, at Page 222, reference to which is hereby made.

PARCEL TWO

ALL that certain lot or parcel of real estate situate in Beaver Pond District, Mercer County, West Virginia, being the Southern Part of Lot 6 of the Mercer Home Building Subdivision of Lot 1, Block B, of the Carland Development Company, as shown on Map of record in the Office of the Clerk of the County Court of Mercer County, West Virginia, in Deed Book 149, page 32, and which is more particularly bounded and described as follows:

BEGINNING at the point of intersection of the easterly line of a 30 feet wide old county road with the northerly line of the Old Bluefield-Princeton Road; thence with said old county road line N. 22° 15’ W. 202.96 feet to a point; thence across Lot 6, N. 64° 20’ E. 96.2 feet, more or less, to the westerly tine of Lot 5; thence with Lot 5, S. 25° 40’ E. 202,60 feet to the Old Bluefield-Princeton Road; thence with the Old Bluefield-Princeton Road, S. 64º 20’ W. 108.3 feet to the point of BEGINNING.

And being the same property conveyed from M. J. DILLON etux to Trustees of the Carr Memorial Methodist Church by Deed dated July 25, 1967 and recorded in the aforesaid Clerks Office in Deed Book 436, at Page 194, reference to which is hereby made.

PARCEL THREE

ALL of that certain tract or parcel of real estate designated as Parcel ‘B’ on “PLAT SHOWING PARCEL’S OF LAND DENOTED AS “A”-“B”-“C” LYING ON THE WATERS OF BRUSH CREEK OF BLUESTONE RIVER BRAVER POND DISTRICT MERCER COUNTY SITUATE JUST NORTHEAST OF THE COUNTY OF GLENWOOD WEST VIRGINIA SCALE 1” = 60’ OCTOBER 23, 2001’, said plat intended to be recorded forthwith in said Clerk’s Office with a deed from the parties of the first part to Bessie Dillon, and more fully bounded and described as follows:

BEGINNING at a 2 inch iron pipe found in at the southwest corner of Patsy Cundiff at the northwest corner of Margaret Cotten and in the northeastern line of Roy Harman; thence with the southwestern line of said Cotten and a common line to said Harman, S. 25° 40’ 00” E. 89.40 feet to a 1/2 inch rebar set in the southwestern line of said Cotten and at the northeastern corner of the Methodist Church; thence with the northwestern line of said Methodist Church and a common line to said Harman, S. 66° 29’ 00” W. 100.07 feet to a 1/2 inch rebar set at the northwest corner of said Methodist Church and a common corner to said Harman and in the northeastern line of Bessie Dillon; thence with the northeastern line of said Dillon and a common line to said Harman and passing through a 1/2 inch rebar set at 37.42 feet at the northeast corner of said Dillon and a common corner o said Harman, then continuing on said line and through the lands of said Harman 67.58 feet for a total bearing and distance of N. 25° 40’ 00” E. 105.00 feet to a 1/2 inch rebar set in the lands of said Harman; thence continuing through the lands of said Harman, N. 75° 17’ 10” W. 101.86 feet to the point of BEGINNING, and containing 0.22 acres, more or less.

And being the same property conveyed from Roy W. Harman etux to Trustees of Daniel Hoge Carr Memorial United Methodist Church by Deed dated November 26, 2001 and recorded in the aforesaid Clerks Office in Deed Book 838, at Page 608, reference to which is hereby made.

SAID Carr Memorial United Methodist Church was declared closed effective January 5, 2024 by a vote of a majority of the District Superintendents of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
