NOTICE

The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (WVDEP) will conduct a remedial activity at the M&T Blue Flash site under the State Response Program. The site is located at 540 Mercer St., Princeton, WV. A leaking underground storage tank at this former service station has led to contamination of the soil and groundwater with petroleum products and their derivatives. The Office of Environmental Remediation (OER) at the WVDEP, through the CERCLA Section 128(a) USEPA State Response Program, will fund the installation of monitoring wells at the property to determine the extent of remaining contamination. This remedial action will be performed in keeping with all applicable state and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Site Location: 540 Mercer Street Princeton, WV Current Site Use: The property is currently a vacant lot Contaminants: Petroleum impacted soil and groundwater Proposed Cleanup Method and Methods to Control Possible Health Exposure: Appropriate cleanup methods will be determined based on the data collected from the planned monitoring wells. Proposed Future Use: The planned reuse of the property is to be a Farmer’s Market for the City of Princeton, with groundbreaking to occur in 2025.
