Notice is hereby given that LITTLE SEAM MINING COMPANY, INC., PO BOX 25, HARMAN BRANCH RD, THORPE, WV 24888 has a permit on file with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for the surface mining of approximately 153.42 acres and has submitted an application to the DEP, 1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV 25840, for renewal of Article 3 Permit Number S400811 to Coal Surface Mine in the Pocahontas No. 3, Pocahontas No. 4, and Pocahontas No. 6 seam of coal. The operation is discharging into Unnamed Tributaries of/and South Fork; Unnamed Tributaries of/and McClure Branch of South Fork; Unnamed Tributaries of/and Tea Branch of South Fork; Unnamed Tributaries of Tug Fork of Tug Fork and is located 1.1 miles, Southeast of Pageton in Adkin District of McDowell County, Longitude 81o27’17” and Latitude 37o19’54” (Coordinates from USGS Topographic Map).

Written comments and/or requests for an informal conference of the permit renewal application shall identify the applicant and application number and will be received by the Permit Supervisor at the DEP address above unil April 20, 2024, or thirty (30) days from the date of final publication. A copy of the application will be available for review until April 20, 2024, or thirty (30) days from the date of final publication in the DEP Regional Office located at the address above and is available at:
