NOTICE OF PROPOSED
CONVEYANCE
OF UNITED METHODIST CHURCH PROPERTY
(Carr Memorial
United Methodist Church)
Notice is hereby given that the Board of Trustees of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church will, on or after March 6, 2024 QUITCLAIM, GRANT AND CONVEY to Trustees of Carr Memorial Methodist Church that certain lot or parcel of land, situate in Beaver Pond District, Mercer County, West Virginia, and bounded and described as follows, to-wit:
PART OF LOT 4 PARCEL “B”, situated in Beaver Pond District, Mercer County, at the community of Glenwood, West Virginia, lying on the waters of Brush Creek of Bluestone River, as shown upon a map which bears the legend, “PLAT SHOWING PARCELS OF LAND DENOTED AS “A” &“B” LYING ON THE WATERS OF BRUSH CREEK OF BLUESTONE RIVER BEAVER POND DISTRICT MERCER COUNTY BEING SITUATE AT THE COMMUNITY OF GLEN WOOD WEST VIRGINIA SCALE 1” = 40’ JUNE 12, 2006 SHIELDS ENGINEERING CO. LLC RURAL ROUTE 1, BOX 197 BLUEFIELD, WEST VIRGINIA PHONE-304-327-7936 FAX #-304-325-3018,” and which said Map is recorded as Microfilm Plat No. 15753, and more particularly described as follows:
Beginning at a 5/8” Rebar set in the southwestern line of Margaret M. Meador and a common line to Margaret Cotten; thence through the lands of said Cotten S. 64°20’ 00” W. 100.00’ to a 5/8” Rebar set in the northwestern line of Carr Memorial Methodist Church and a common line to said Cotten; thence .with the northeastern line of said Methodist Church and a common line to said Cotten N. 25°40’ 00” W. 100.00’ to a 2” Iron Pipe found at the northeast corner of said Methodist Church and the southeast corner of Ronnie Wriston and at the southwest corner of Patsy Cundiff an a common corner to said Cotten; thence with the southeastern line of said Cundiff and a common line to said Cotten N. 64°-20’-OO” B. 100.00’ to a 2” Iron Pipe found at the southeast corner of said Cundiff and a common corner to said Cotten and the southwestern line of said Meador; thence with the southwestern line of said Meador and a common line to said Cotten S. 25° 40’ 00” E. 100.00’ to the point of beginning and containing 0.23 acres, more or less.
And being the same property conveyed from Charles Albert Cotton etux to Carr Memorial Methodist Church, by Deed dated September 6, 2006 and recorded in the Office of the Clerk of the County Commission of Mercer County, West Virginia in Deed Book 902, at Page 171, reference to which is hereby made.
SAID Carr Memorial United Methodist Church was declared closed effective January 5, 2024 by a vote of a majority of the District Superintendents of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
