PUBLIC HEARING
The City of Fairmont will hold a public meeting at 2pm on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at the Public Safety Building at 500 Quincy Street. The following topic will be discussed at such time and any interested persons may appear and be heard regarding:
The City of Fairmont is applying for a $500,000.00 grant through the Community Development Block Grant (CBDG) program. The CDBG is a program of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The primary objective of Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended, is to develop viable communities by providing decent housing, a suitable living environment, and expanded economic opportunities, principally for persons of low- to moderate-income.
The intention of the grant funding, should it be awarded, is investments in capital improvements as it relates to City of Fairmont public parks. These improvements would meet the following objective set by the 2020-2024 CDBG Consolidated Plan for the state of West Virginia, as approved by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development:
• Improve quality of life by enhancing public facilities and eliminating factors that affect environmental quality or public health
