Notice to Customers – Tree trimming

NOTICE TO CUSTOMERS

To maintain necessary clearances for safe and reliable electric service, Appalachian Power plans to manage vegetation along a portion of its 34.5 kilovolt and 12 kv distribution system in Mercer County, McDowell, and Monroe County W.Va.

On or about April 4th thru Dec.29 2020, contract crews will begin to trim and remove trees and brush along our rights of way. Work will be done in accordance with International Society of Arboriculture guidelines and take into account factors such as tree species, growth characteristics, line voltage, etc. In unmaintained or undeveloped areas, cuttings will remain on site to minimize soil disturbance and to promote biodegradation.

Rights of way in the area involved in the program are:

Switchback Jenkin Jones Circuit,  Jenkin Jones and surrounding area Mcdowell County WV

Minnix Mtn Wenonha Circuit, Rock and Montcalm and surrounding area Mercer County WV

Peters Mtn Linside Circuit,  Rich Creek, Peterstown to Greenville and surrounding area Monroe County WV

Representatives will attempt to personally contact resident property owners at least seven business days prior to working on their property. Specifics regarding your property may be discussed at that time. If you are a nonresident property owner and have questions regarding our right-of-way maintenance, please contact:
