NOTIFICATION OF INTENT

NOTIFICATION OF INTENT TO PURSUE A SEWERAGE SYSTEM IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NOTICE is hereby given under the requirements of West Virginia Code c 24-2-11 that the Beckley Sanitary Board (the “Board”) intends to pursue a sewerage system improvement project that is not in the ordinary course of business. The sewerage system improvement project consists of (i) installing an organics receiving, storage and feeding system at the wastewater treatment plant, (ii) replacing and upgrading the lighting, mechanical and electrical systems at the wastewater treatment plant, (iii) installing a new SCADA system at the wastewater treatment plant, (iv) replacing and upgrading the digester at the wastewater treatment plant, (v) installing a new dewatering system at the wastewater treatment plant, (vi) installing a new flare and gas treatment system at the wastewater treatment plant, (vii) installing a new electric cogeneration system at the wastewater treatment plant; (viii) installing a new grit removal system at the wastewater treatment plant; (ix) replacing and upgrading the aeration basin at the wastewater treatment plant, (x) replacing and upgrading the UV disinfection system and the wastewater treatment plant, and (xi) all appurtenances related thereto (collectively, the “Project”). No increase in the Board’s current sewer rates and charges is required to pay for the expense associated with the financing for the Project. The schedule of rates and charges for the services and facilities of the System shall be as set forth in the sewer rate ordinance of the City of Beckley (City) enacted May 12, 2015. The first reading of the ordinance before the Common Council of the City of Beckley authorizing the Board’s project is set for Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 6:30 p.m., while the public hearing and second reading before the Common Council of the City are set for Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. Any person interested may appear before the City of Beckley Common Council at the City Hall, 409 South Kanawha Street, Beckley, West Virginia, at either meeting and present comments.
