ORDINANCE TO AMEND CITY CHARTER
The City Council of the City of Parsons is considering an amendment to the City Charter. The proposed amendment is intended to establish two voting wards in the City.
The proposed amendment is available for review at the Parsons Business Office, located at 341 Second Street, Parsons, West Virginia, or by calling the City Administrator at (304) 478-2311.
The Parsons City Council will conduct a public hearing regarding the proposed amendment at the Parsons Municipal Building at 6:00 P.M. (EDT) on Tuesday, January 9, 2024. During this hearing, City Council will welcome and receive written comments, objections, and suggestions regarding the proposed amendment. Citizens unable to attend the hearing may submit written comments regarding the amendment, which will be accepted prior to and ten (10) days following the public hearing is convened. Written comments will be included in the record to be considered by City Council.
Any qualified voter or freeholder may make written suggestions or objections to the proposed amendment. If no objections are filed, or if objections filed are withdrawn at the time of the hearing, City Council may take final action on the proposed amendments at the conclusion of the public hearing by enacting by Ordinance the amendments, to be effective no sooner than ten (10) days following the public hearing.
