House Bill 4127 passed by the 1990 West Virginia Legislature requires County assessors to have all real estate on the land books at 60{4ceb532c6f579389df471c6c1e832caf2346b74dc60fcbf6aabd4d29df3baf9c} of its current market value. This legislation also requires that assessor’s conduct real estate appraisal every three years to maintain current assessed values on the land book. In 2014, residential property in Union, Warren and Buckhannon Corporation districts were reviewed. Other increases may be due to new construction, updating of previous information, values set according to sales or minerals.
All minerals are appraised by the WV State Tax Department. Questions regarding minerals should be directed to the Tax Department at 304-558-3940.
Should you have any questions concerning the assessment of your property, please contact my office in person or phone 304- 472-4650.
