The City of Weirton Fire Civil Service Commission will be conducting a Probationary Firefighter Exam. The deadline to submit an application along with Doctor’s Physical ExaminationisDecember 8, 2021, at 4:00 p.m. The Physical Agility Exam will be given on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at the Thomas Phillips Johnson Recreation Center at Bethany College. Registration begins promptlyat 8:30 a.m.; Physical Agility Exam begins at 9:00 a.m. The Written Examwill be given on Saturday, December 18, 2021. Registration begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. at theMillsop Community Center’s Weirton Room; Written Exam begins at 9:00 a.m. Minimum starting salary is $17.69 per hour, including health,and other supplemental benefits which are available in detail at the City Clerk’s Office. The Fire Civil Service Commission will award preference points to veterans and/or candidates with prior fire experience within the Weirton Fire Department Volunteer Division and meets the requirements of the Firemen’s Civil Service Commission Code. Candidates must be between the ages of 18 and 35. Residency requirements do not apply. More detailed information and exceptions can be found under W.Va. Code Section 8-15-17.
