AGRICULTURAL LEASE

Agricultural Land located near Huttonsville Correctional Center, Randolph County, West Virginia

The West Virginia Department of Agriculture offers for lease, for agricultural use, approximately 67 acres of cropland situate in Huttonsville District, Randolph County, West Virginia. The leased premises will consist of three (3) fields of cropland containing approximately 12.5 acres, 33.5 acres, and 21 acres, respectively.

Sealed bids for this lease will be received at the West Virginia Department of Agriculture, ATTN: Huttonsville Lease Bid, 217 Gus R. Douglass Lane, Charleston, West Virginia, 25312. All bids must be sealed and must be received no later than 3:00 p.m. on March 28th, 2022.

Bids will be opened on March 29th, 2022, at 9:00 a m. Interested parties who wish to submit their bid prior to the cutoff date and time may post or hand deliver their sealed bids to the above address. It is the responsibility of the bidder to make certain the bid reaches WVDA prior to the cutoff date and time. A postmark is not sufficient; the bid must actually reach the office by the cutoff date. Late bids will be rejected, without exception. WVDA reserves the right to reject all bids after opening.

Minimum bid $6,700.00 annually ($100.00 per acre).

WVDA will credit bidder for $6 per bushel of dried shell corn promised to be delivered to Huttonsville State Farm before January 1 of each year.

– Terms and conditions: Term of Lease shall be for a period of two (2) years with the possibility of extension, upon expiration of the initial term, with the understanding that after the initial term, lease payments are subject to negotiation.

– WVDA will retain the right to apply cover-crops between September 15 and November 15 of each year, in a manner that will not harm remaining crops.

– WVDA will retain all hunting rights.

– The land may not be used in any manner that would render it toxic for agricultural use, nor may toxic or hazardous materials as identified by the commissioner of agriculture be used or stored on the property unless all applicable state and federal permits necessary are obtained.

– No timber on the land shall be cut, unless merely incidental to the requirements of the agricultural use and then, only after approval of such incidental tree removal has been granted in writing by the commissioner of agriculture.

– Lessee shall be required to maintain soil quality of the land and adhere to the conservation plan maintained by Lessor and/or cooperate with Lessor in developing such conservation plan.

– Lease subject to cancellation with thirty (30) days’ written notice.

– All other terms and conditions are subject to negotiation in the final lease.
