PUBLIC NOTICE CITY OF BECKLEY, WV Notice is hereby given by the City of Beckley, Raleigh County, West Virginia that it will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 4:30 p.m., prevailing time, in the Council Chambers of the Beckley City Hall, located at 409 South Kanawha Street, Beckley, WV 25801. The City Hall and Council Chambers are handicap accessible. If any resident needs to have special arrangements made to accommodate them so they can participate in the meeting, please contact Ms. Angela L. King, Grants Administrator for the City of Beckley at (304) 256-1768, to make those arrangements. The purpose of the public meeting is to gather residents’ comments on the City’s plans to demolish the former Beckley Newspaper Building located at 345 Prince Street, Beckley, WV 25801, using HUD Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. The building has been vacant for numerous years and has fallen into disrepair, become dilapidated, and unsafe. The building is a public safety and fire hazard. It cannot be economically rehabilitated. It is now a blighting influence on the Central Businesses District of the City of Beckley. All interested residents and groups are encouraged to attend this public meeting. Everyone will be given the opportunity to present oral or written testimony concerning the condition of the property and the proposed demolition of the building.
