NOTICE OF PROPOSED CONVEYANCE OF THE
UNITED METHODIST CHURCH PROPERTY (Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Wood County)

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Trustees of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church will, on or after August 25, 2022 QUITCLAIM, GRANT and CONVEY to Laurie D. Cowart and Norman E. Cowart all of their right, title and interest in and to all those certain lots, tracts or parcels of real estate situate, lying and being in Walker District, Wood County, West Virginia, described as follows:

PARCEL ONE

BEGINNING at a pipe in the southerly right of way line of U. S. Highway Route 50, corner to Paul E. Marshall; thence S. 33* 18′ E. and with a line of Marshall 10.01 feet to a point in the northerly line of a parcel now owned by the Trustees of Pleasant Hill Methodist Church; thence in a westerly direction and with the northerly line of said church property, having a chord of S. 58* 49′ W., 178 feet to a point in a line of Reese; thence N. 50* 11′ W. and with said Reese line 10.58 feet to a pipe in the southerly right of way line of Route 50; thence in an easterly direction and with the southerly line of Route 50, having a chord of N. 58* 49′ E. 181.07 feet to the place of beginning, containing .041 acres, more or less.
By deed dated March 25, 1968, and of record in the Wood County Clerk’s Office in Deed Book No. 542, at page 546, a parcel containing 0.37 acre was conveyed to the Trustees of Pleasant Hill Methodist Church, and the northerly line of said parcel was described as being 40 feet from the centerline of said Route 50, when in fact the distance from said centerline was 30 feet, and it is the purpose of the foregoing conveyance to convey to the grantee herein the 10 foot strip lying between the 0.37 acre parcel and the southerly right of way line of U.S. Route 50.

PARCEL TWO

BEGINNING at the northwest corner conveyed to Pleasant Hill Methodist Church; thence S. 83* 11′ E. and with a line of said church parcel 69.29 feet to an oil well; thence S. 63* 50′ W. 41.31 feet to a pipe; thence N. 50* 11′ W. 41.3 feet to the place of beginning, containing .018 acre, more or less. The aforesaid two parcels are more particularly shown and described on a plat dated March 23, 1981 by Peter K. Marshall.

And being the same property conveyed by Gladys E. Marshall, widow, to Paul Ewing, etals, Trustees of Pleasant Hill Methodist Church, by Deed dated April 13, 1981 and recorded in the Office of the Clerk of the County Commission of Wood County, West Virginia in Deed Book__ at Page__ reference to which is hereby made.

PARCEL THREE

BEGINNING at a pipe in the southerly right of way line of U. S. Route No. 50, in the line of a parcel now owned by Paul E. Marshall, thence S. 33* 18′ E. 111.89 feet to a pipe; thence S. 53* 27′ W. 138.6 feet to a pipe; thence N. 23* 50′ W. 81 feet to an oil well; thence N. 83* 11′ W. 69.29 feet to a pipe in the southerly right of way line of said U.S. Route No. 50; thence in an easterly direction and with the southerly right of way line of said Route No. 50, 178 feet, more or less, to the place of beginning, containing 0.37 acres, more or less, and being more particularly shown on a Plat attached to the Deed referred to hereinbelow dated March 25, 1968.

And being the same property coveyed by Arden L. Marshall, Gladys Marshall and Paul Edward Marshall to Gordon L. Roberts etals, Trustees of Pleasant Hill Methodist Church by Deed dated March 25, 1968 and recorded in the aforesaid Clerk’s Office in Deed Book 542, at Page 546, reference to which is hereby made.
Said Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church was declared closed effective on June 7, 2022 by a majority of the District Superintendents of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
