AIR QUALITY PERMIT NOTICE
Notice of Application

Notice is given that J.F. Allen Company has applied to the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection, Division of Air Quality, for a G40-C General Permit Registration for the nonmetallic mineral processing facilities located at J.F. Allen’s Aggregate Quarry on WV-92 and J.F. Allen’s Mashey Gap Quarry on Kelly Mountain Road, both located in Elkins, Randolph County, West Virginia. The latitude and longitude coordinates for the Aggregate Quarry are 38.930259 N, -79.905190 W. The latitude and longitude coordinates for the Mashey Gap Quarry are 38.888280 N, -79.905190 W.

The applicant estimates that the potential to discharge the following Regulated Air Pollutants will be:

Nitrogen Oxides: 10.51 tons/year
Carbon Monoxide: 27.55 tons/year
Total Organic Compounds: 1.68 tons/year
Sulfur Oxides: 6.28 tons/year
Particulate Matter: 18.23 tons/year
Particulate Matter – 10: 8.54 tons/year
Carbon Dioxide Equivalents: 3544 tons/year
Formaldehyde: 0.026 tons/year
Total Hazardous Air Pollutants: 0.061 tons/year

Startup of operation is planned to begin in or about 1 day of June, 2023. Written comments will be received by the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection, Division of Air Quality, 601 57th Street, SE, Charleston, WV 25304, for at least 30 calendar days from the date of publication of this notice. Written comments will also be received via email at [email protected].
