NOTICE OF PROPOSED CONVEYANCE
OF UNITED METHODIST CHURCH PROPERTY
(Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church)

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Trustees of the West Virginia Annual Conference of United Methodist Church will, on or after September 1, 2023 QUITCLAIM, GRANT and CONVEY to Trustees of Pleasant Grove Church all of their right, title and interest in and to those certain lots or parcels of real estate situate on the waters of Bull Run, lying and being in Union District, Wood County, West Virginia, described as follows:

PARCEL ONE

BEGINNING at a stone thence N. 36* E. 16 poles to a stake, thence N. 71 ½ W. 10 poles to a stone, thence S. 36 e. 16 poles to a stake, thence S. 71 ½ E. 10 poles to the place of beginning containing one acre more or less.
And being the same property conveyed to Trustees for the Church of the United Brethren in Christ from James and Sarah Stephens by Deed dated November 16, 1874 and recorded in the Office of the Clerk of the County Commission of Wood County, West Virginia in Deed Book 46, at Page 328, reference to which is hereby made.

PARCEL TWO
BEGINNING at the Northwest corner of the original Pleasant Grove Church Lot, recorded in the Office of the Clerk of the County Court of Wood county, West Virginia, in Deed Book 46, at Page 328; thence N. 41* 04′ E. 119.6 feet to an iron pipe; thence 568* 30′ E. 150.21 feet to an iron rod in the westerly line of a tract of land owned by James G. Moore, recorded in said Clerk’s Office in Deed Book 285, at Page 156; thence with the said Moore line along an old fence S. 39* 47′ W. 52.66 feet to a post and S. 34* 17′ W. 24 feet to the northwest corner of another tract of land owned by the beforementioned Pleasant Grove Church, recorded in said Clerk’s Office in Deed Book 353, at Page 215; thence with 2 lines of said tract of land N. 47* 56′ W. 115.58 feet and S. 58* 34′ W. 100 feet to the place of beginning, containing 0.20 acres, as more particularly shown on a plat thereof recorded in the aforesaid Clerk’s Office in Deed Book 843, at Page 356, reference to which is hereby made.
And being the same property conveyed to Trustees of Pleasant Grove Evangelical United Brethren Church from Virginia Lee Peters by Deed dated October 7, 1974 and recorded in the aforesaid Clerk’s Office in Deed Book 843, at Page 355, reference to which is hereby made.

PARCEL THREE
BEGINNING at a Stone corner to the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in the Floyd E. Peters, etux. George Moore Boundary line; thence one line with the aforesaid Cemetery, North 71 degrees West 152 feet to a Stone in the Floyd E. Peters line; thence with the same North 53 degrees and 30 minutes East 100 feet to a Locust Post; thence South 53 degrees East 116 feet to a Locust Post in the George Moore boundary line; thence with the same South 36 degrees West 45 feet to the Stone the place of beginning, and the said plot or parcel of land as herein described, being surveyed and calculated on the 22nd day of March 1952, to contain Nine Thousand Seven Hundred and Fifteen (9715) Square feet, be the same more or less, and a Plat of the said land as herein described and is recorded in the aforesaid Clerk’s Office in Deed Book 353, at Page 215A, reference to which is hereby made.
And being the same property conveyed to Trustees of Pleasant Grove Evangelical United Brethren Church from Floyd E. Peters and Virginia Lee Peters, husband and wife by Deed dated March 22, 1952 and recorded in the aforesaid Clerk’s Office in Deed Book 353, at Page 215, reference to which is hereby made.
Said Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church was declared closed effective on July 1, 2023 by a majority of the District Superintendents of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
