PUBLIC NOTICE

[SUMMARY: Notice is hereby given that the USDA Rural Development as required by the National Environmental Policy Act, is issuing an environmental assessment (EA) in connection with possible impacts related to a project proposed by Claywood Park Public Service District, Wood County, WV. The proposed project will consist of replacing and upgrading approximately 15,000 LF of failing water line along Dutch Ridge Road (CR 47/4) and an additional 1,500 LF along Red Hill Road (CR 50/38). This replacement and upgrade would provide 78 existing customers along Dutch Ridge Road with fire protection. Also included in the improvements are three directional drills to replace aged and problematic portions of water line. These include two sections under US Route 50 and an approximate 400 LF replacement on Meadville Road. The project also includes the replacement of 2,000 antiquated and failing water meters throughout the system with current generation radio read meters. The PSD has submitted an application to USDA Rural Development for funding of the proposal.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The Claywood Park Public Service District proposes to have an environmental assessment prepared by Cerrone Associates, Inc., an environmental consultant, prepared an environmental assessment for Claywood Park Public Service District that describes the project, assesses the proposed project’s environmental impacts, and summarizes as applicable any mitigation measures used to minimize environmental effects. USDA Rural Development has conducted an independent evaluation of the environmental assessment and believes that it accurately assesses the impacts of the proposed project. No significant impacts are expected as a result of the construction of the project.

Questions and comments should be sent to USDA – RD or Cerrone Associates, Inc. at the address provided. Questions and comments on the environmental assessment will be accepted for 15 days from the date of publication of this notice.

Any final action by USDA RD (RUS) related to the proposed project will be subject to, and contingent upon, compliance with all relevant Federal environmental laws and regulations and completion of environmental review procedures as prescribed by 7 CFR Part 1970, Environmental Policies and Procedures.
