Public Notice

ALL PROPERTY OWNERS OF RANDOLPH COUNTY

In accordance with Chapter 11, Article 3, Section 2A of West Virginia Code, the Assessor’s office is mandated to notify all property owners whose assessments have increased more than 10%. These notices were mailed on January 16, 2024. Increases may be due to an update of previous information, new construction, values set according to recent sales, and/or mineral value.

The Reappraisal Bill, passed by the 1990 West Virginia Legislature, requires County Assessors to have all real estate on the land books at 60% of its current market value annually. This legislation also requires that assessors conduct a physical review of real estate appraisals on a three-year cycle and land studies on an annual basis. Assessed values are completed for tax year 2024 and are available for review in the Randolph County Assessor’s Office. Should you have any questions concerning the assessment of your property, please contact my office in person or phone 304-636-2114. If you disagree with the value of your property, you may request an informal review with the Assessor’s Office. You may appeal the valuation to the Randolph County Commission sitting as the Board of Review & Equalization until February 20, 2024, which is the adjournment date for the Board. Per recent legislation, you may also request an appeal by filing a petition for appeal with the Office of Tax Appeals @ 1012 Kanawha Blvd., East, Suite 300, Charleston, WV 25301. Information regarding how to file a petition with the Office of Tax Appeals is available at www.taxappeals.wv.gov or call 304-558-1666.
