Director, Humane & Shelter Operations
The Hancock County Commission will be accepting applications for a Full-time Director, Humane & Shelter Operations. Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be capable of being bonded to carry a firearm and pass firearm qualifications with duty weapon. Must be physically capable of lifting 50 – 100 lbs. Veterinarian skills a plus. Minimum duties include but are not limited to: Responsible for the day-to-day management of the Hancock County Animal Shelter & all humane investigations. This includes oversight of Shelter staff, Animal Control Officers and field officers to ensure maintenance of sanitary and humane conditions for all animals; monitoring the health (mental and physical) and progress of all animals; confirming all available space is effectively utilized; planning and implementation of humane action plans for all animals; overseeing all organizational functions; coordination of all programs and services; directing organizational development and fundraising; and representing the Hancock County Animal Shelter to the public as needed in support of the Shelter’s mission.
