NOTICE OF EXAMINATION JACKSON COUNTY DEPUTY SHERIFF The Jackson County Civil Service Commission for Deputy Sheriff’s announces that applications are being accepted for examination for the position of Deputy Sheriff. Applications can be picked up in the County Commission office at the Jackson County, West Virginia courthouse on business days between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Completed applications must be submitted in person, with proper photo identification, to the Office Assistant of the County Commission on business days between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The starting date for submitting applications is Tuesday, February 17, 2026, and the closing date and time for submitting applications is Tuesday March 3, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. The nature of the work is law enforcement with entry-level salary at $4,126.03 per month. Minimum requirements are as follows: good physical condition, 18-45 years of age, a valid driver’s license, U.S. Citizenship, not addicted to alcohol or drugs, not convicted of a felony, and not dismissed from public service for misconduct or making a fraudulent application for this examination. “Medical Selection Guidelines” and “Physical Agility Screening” standards have been adopted, and the Sheriff will require medical and fitness evaluations of eligibility using those standards prior to the employment of any candidate for deputy sheriff.
