Notice is hereby given that CARTER ROAG COAL COMPANY, 109 APPALACHIAN DRIVE, BECKLEY, WV 25801 has a permit on file with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for the surface mining of approximately 16.48 acres and has submitted an application to the DEP, 47 School Street, Suite 301, Philippi, WV 26416-1600, for renewal of Article 3 Permit Number U201408 to maintain a deep mine in the Lower Sewell seam of coal.
The operation is discharging into Beech Run the Left Fork of the Buckhannon River of Tygart Valley River of Monongahela River and is located 4.1 miles southeast of Helvetia in Middle Fork District of Randolph County, Longitude 80* 7′ 42″ and Latitude 38* 41′ 2″ (Coordinates from USGS Topographic Map).
