The Wood-Washington-Wirt Interstate Planning Commission (WWW) has initiated the process of updating the current Long Range Transportation Plan for the region which includes all of Wood County, West Virginia and portions of Washington County, Ohio. The Washington County portion includes the Townships of Belpre, Dunham, Warren, Muskingum, Fearing, Marietta, and Newport. The plan is being updated in accordance with the planning requirements identified in the federal transportation legislation known as Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century (MAP-21). Within the legislation are specific planning provisions that must be addressed in order to comply with the regulations. The plan is required to be updated every four years maintaining a twenty year planning period, include multimodal considerations, be fiscally constrained, identify performance measures, and provide for opportunities for public involvement and comment. The process also includes resource agency coordination and consultation. The plan update process will include the re-evaluation of the current plan resulting in the reassessment of the existing recommendations and the inclusion of any new priorities in the final program of projects. This notice represent an early notification and opportunity to participate in the process. A Project Overview and information brochure along with a comment/survey form have been developed and is available on the WWW website located at www.triplew.org.
