PUBLIC NOTICE OF CHANGE IN RATES IN EFFECT SUBJECT TO REFUND

 

Notice is hereby given that Union Williams Public Service District, a public utility, has on January 18, 2017, filed with the PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION OF WEST VIRGINIA, an application containing increased rates, tolls and charges for furnishing sewer service to approximately 1,800 customers in Wood and Pleasants Counties, including the communities of Valley Mills, Waverly, Northwood Villa, Parkerstown, Oak Grove Road, Mullenix Addition, Woodland Falls, Wood & Pleasants Counties Industrial Parks, Oakwood Estates/Granada Hill, Par Metta Crest, Brierwood, Elmwood Heights, Wood County Airport, and Mountaineer Mobile Home Park.

 

The District proposes a two-step rate change. The first step of the rate change, to be in effect for 30 months, will produce approximately $60,148 annually in additional revenue, an increase of approximately 3.7{4ceb532c6f579389df471c6c1e832caf2346b74dc60fcbf6aabd4d29df3baf9c}. The second step of the rate change, to be in effect after 30 months, will produce approximately $185,285 less in revenue than the first step of the rate change, a decrease of approximately 11.6{4ceb532c6f579389df471c6c1e832caf2346b74dc60fcbf6aabd4d29df3baf9c}.

 

The average monthly bill for the various classes of customers under the District’s proposed Step 1 rate change will be changed compared to the rates now in effect as follows:

The changes shown are based on averages of all customers in the indicated class.  Individual customers may receive changes that are greater or less than average. The requested rates and charges went into effect subject to refund on the date the utility filed its rate application and are subject to change (increases or decreases) by the Public Service Commission in its review of this filing. Each class may receive an increase or decrease greater or less than stated here. Individual customers may receive increases that are greater or less than average. If the Commission approves lower rates, the utility will be required to make customer refunds consistent with W.Va. Code Œ24-2-4a and Commission order. (If a hearing is scheduled, notice will be given of the time and place of hearing.)

 

Anyone desiring to protest or intervene should file a written protest or notice of intervention prior to April 20, 2017 unless otherwise modified by Commission order. Failure to timely protest or intervene can affect your rights to protest any rate increases and to participate in future proceedings. All protests or requests to intervene should briefly state the reason for the protest or intervention. Requests to intervene must comply with the Commission’s rule on intervention set forth in the Commission’s Rules of Practice and Procedure. All protests and interventions should be addressed to Executive Secretary, Public Service Commission of West Virginia, P.O. Box 812, Charleston, West Virginia 25323.

 

A complete copy of the proposed rates, as well as a representative of the public service district to provide information requested concerning it, is available to all customers, prospective customers, or their agents at any of the following offices of the public service district:
