RFP – FARMERS MARKET
Elkins Main Street is pleased to announce the availability of funding to support the establishment and operation of a year-round farmer’s market in Elkins, West Virginia. We are seeking proposals from qualified entities that can demonstrate a strong commitment to promoting local agriculture, enhancing community access to fresh produce and goods, and fostering economic development within the region.
Project Overview: The primary objective of this funding initiative is to establish a sustainable, year-round farmer’s market that provides a platform for local farmers, artisans, and producers to sell their goods directly to consumers. The market should offer a diverse range of products including fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, dairy products, baked goods, and crafts. Additionally, proposals should include strategies to attract a diverse customer base and ensure accessibility to underserved populations.
Funding Details: Applicants may request funding up to $2,000 to support the following activities:
Infrastructure development (e.g., signage, market stalls, etc.)
Marketing and promotion
Operational costs (e.g., staffing, utilities)
Educational programs (e.g., cooking demonstrations, nutritional workshops)
Proposal Requirements: Interested parties are required to submit a comprehensive proposal addressing the following:
1. Organizational Background: Provide an overview of your organization, its mission, and its experience in managing similar projects.
2. Project Description: Outline the proposed farmer’s market concept, including location, operating hours, and the types of vendors and products to be featured.
3. Community Impact: Describe how the farmer’s market will benefit the local community, particularly in terms of economic development, public health, and access to fresh food.
4. Budget and Sustainability Plan: Provide a detailed budget for the project and outline a sustainability plan to ensure the market’s long-term viability.
