NOTICE OF ETC STATUS
On March 1, 2021, Digital Connections Inc., dba Prodigi, a public telecommunications utility, applied to the Public Service Commission, pursuant to Section 214(e)(2) of the federal Telecommunications Act of 1996, as amended, for designation as an Eligible Telecommunications Carrier (ETC) in certain areas of Preston County to obtain federal Universal Service Fund (USF) support for providing certain telephony services. Prodigi meets all the necessary qualifications to be designated as an ETC under the Act. The services that Prodigi will offer will increase the choices available to low-income telecommunications consumers.
According to federal guidelines, a carrier seeking ETC status must advertise on a regular basis in media targeted to a general residential market throughout its service areas and in a manner substantially similar to the media that the serving incumbent local exchange carrier advertises in the particular service area.
On April 23, 2021, the Commission granted the Prodigi Petition.
