NOTICE OF PROPOSED CONVEYANCE
OF UNITED METHODIST CHURCH PROPERTY
(BUCKEYE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH)



NOTICE is hereby given that the Board of Trustees of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church will, on or after January 22, 2022, QUITCLAIM, GRANT and CONVEY to Cody Layman, all of their right, title and interest in and to the following lots or parcels of land in Cass District of Monongalia County, West Virginia and bounded and described as follows:

PARCEL ONE

BEGINNING at corner stone ___ ft. from the South East corner of Dunkard Chapel Church house and Running N 35 E. 80 ft. to a corner ___ ft. from the Northeast corner of the Church house aforesaid, thence N. 55 W. 60 ft. to the County Road, Thence with said road S. 35 W. 80 ft. Thence S. 55 E. 60 ft. to starting point.

AND BEING the same property conveyed to David Lemley, Isaac Bowers, D. W. Lemley and A. M. Brickman, Trustees of Dunkard Chapel for the use and benefit of the Methodist Protestant Church from Eli L. Bowers and Sarah A. Bowers by Deed dated August 25, 1890 and recorded in the Office of the Clerk of the County Commission of Monongalia County, West Virginia in Deed Book 176, at page 253, reference to which is hereby made.

PARCEL TWO

BEGINNING at the northeastern corner of the present church lot and extending thence with a line of said lot N. 55º W. 60 feet to a point in the black top road, thence N. 35º W. 12 feet to a point in said road, thence with other land of the said grantor S. 55º E. 60 feet to a stake; and thence S. 35º W. 12 feet to the place of beginning, as shown on the plat attached to the following deed and hereby made a part hereof.

AND BEING the same property conveyed to Orville Pyle, Fred Fox, Roy Lemley, Ray Pyle, and Mai Lemley, Trustees of the Dunkard Chapel Methodist Church, known as the Buckeye Church, and their successors, from Myrtle Fetty by Deed dated August 18, 1955 and recorded in the aforesaid Clerk’s Office in Deed Book 526, at page 240, reference to which is hereby made.
PARCEL THREE

BEGINNING at a stone, corner to the present church lot, and extending thence N. 35º E. 92 feet to a point, being the northeastern corner of the present church lot, thence N. 55º W. 36.4 feet to the county road, thence along said road N. 42º 31′ E. 100 feet to a stake, thence with other land of the said grantor S. 55º E. 51.2 feet to a stake, and thence S. 43º 15′ W. 193.2 feet to the place of beginning, containing 0.129 acre, as shown on the plat attached to the following deed and hereby made a part hereof.

AND BEING the same property conveyed to Fred Fox, Roy Lemley, Ray Pyle, Mae Lemley, and Roy Moore, as Trustees of the Dunkard Chapel Methodist Church, known as the Buckeye Church, and their successors in office, from Myrtle Fetty by Deed dated October 20, 1956 and recorded in the aforesaid Clerk’s Office, reference to which is hereby made.
SAID Buckeye United Methodist Church was declared closed effective November 16, 2021 by resolution adopted by a majority of the District Superintendents of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
