TAZEWELL COUNTY, VIRGINIA
NOTICE OF
EMERGENCY PROCUREMENT
On February 28, 2024, the primary telecommunications tower for law enforcement, emergency medical protection, fire protection, and wireless broadband internet, located in the Morris Knob area of Tazewell County, Virginia (“the County”), was destroyed in a severe windstorm. On March 4, 2024, the Tazewell County Emergency Manager declared a Local State of Emergency for 911 telecommunications, which was ratified by the Tazewell County Board of Supervisors on March 5, 2024. The Local State of Emergency will continue through March 19, 2024.
In light thereof, the Tazewell County Board of Supervisors has resolved to take the following actions:
(1) Pursuant to Section 2.2-4303(F) of the Code of Virginia (1950), as amended, the Board shall award the following contract to Gigabeam Networks, LLC upon an emergency basis:
(a) Replacement Telecommunications Tower: not to exceed Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00).
(2) Pursuant to Section 2.2-4303(F) of the Code of Virginia (1950), as amended, the Board shall award the following contract to Mobile Communications, Inc. upon an emergency basis:
(a) Labor for Erecting Replacement Telecommunications Tower: not to exceed Forty-Eight Thousand, Two Hundred Nineteen Dollars and Forty-Six Cents ($48,219.46).
(3) Such contracts shall be awarded to Gigabeam Networks, LLC and Mobile Communications, Inc. on or before March 11, 2024.
