NOTICE OF EXAMINATION FOR POSITION OF DEPUTY SHERIFF OF MARION COUNTY

The Marion County Deputy Sheriff’s Civil Service Commission will conduct a competitive examination for the purpose of qualifying applicants for entry level position of Deputy Sheriff of Marion County on Saturday, July 20th, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. at the Marion County Election Center located at 4 Auburn Street; Fairmont, West Virginia. Registration will start promptly at 9:00 a.m.; a valid driver’s license will be required for identification. The exam will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. No late admittance will be allowed.

Interested persons may obtain and file written applications to take this competitive examination at the Office of Julie Kincaid, the County Clerk, located on the first floor of the Marion County Courthouse. All applications must be filed with the County Clerk’s Office no later than Tuesday, July 9th, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. NO APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THIS DATE AND TIME.

Applicants must be citizens of the United States and must be not less than 18 years of age or more than 45 years of age at the date of the application. Applicants must hold a valid West Virginia Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and be a resident of Marion County upon hire.

Physical and psychological examinations will be deferred until after the written competitive examination has been completed and only those who have qualified will be required to submit to these additional examinations.

The rules and regulations of the Marion County Deputy Sheriff’s Civil Service Commission will govern the examination.
